This Christmas we are helping illuminate Television Centre in west London with a festive light installation.
We’ve suspended 160 Etch pendants over Television Centre’s welcome lane, which was once the gateway for every visitor to the BBC in White City.
Commissioned by local art collective White Noise City, the festive lights are set to be switched on Thursday 1 December 2016, when the public will be able to pass beneath the work, which sits in a newly landscaped area off Wood Lane.
Eleven strings of lights, complete with 160 geodesic brass pendants, will be suspended between a pathway of bare-branched trees to theatrically illuminate the area.
Each pendant using intricately etched and patterned razor-thin brass sheets. The geodesic brass pendants were designed in our studio in Portobello Dock, close to Television Centre. These structures belong to our ETCH family of designs, which cast a complex web of shadows when illuminated.
The original concept
Etch Tea Light Holder Brass
Giving out a soft, ambient glow when lit from within by a candle, our much-love tea light holders are etched from metal in the same way as their lighting pendant counterparts. Available in brass, steel, copper and black and with an alternative wood surface pattern.
Etch Pendant Brass
Giving out a soft, ambient glow, Etch pendants can be hung individually over a dining table, for example, or for more dramatic effect hang them in multiples using our pendant system. Also available in the steel, copper and black, in 50cm size and as a set of tea light holders.
Etch Mini Pendant Brass
The classic Etch pendant, but miniaturised and given a new Satin Nickel silver finish that enhances sculptural form with reflectivity. Presented in gift-worthy packaging. Also available in copper and black.
