Mud Collection

Mud Collection

Inspired by our obsession with great British manufacturing, the limited edition ‘Mud’ collection launched at The Factory is made with bricks and material from London. Earlier this year we travelled to the outskirts of London to visit a clay pit and brick factory that has been producing the iconic red London brick for many years. Red bricks were a natural choice for our continued experiments in the olfactory: while being an iconic symbol of London their porous nature also makes them perfect for diffusing scent throughout a space.

‘We scoured the globe for a new and efficient way of diffusing fragrances - Volcanic rock from Indonesia, Charcoal from Japan, Hi-tech Ceramic from Germany, but strangely the most effective material was in our back yard – the humble London Brick!’ – Tom Dixon

Ultimately the rough, handmade process of brick making informed the design of these one off pieces: A manganese glaze and ink stamp finish the Mud diffusers while the Mud candle is housed in a cast aluminium container with enamelled lid. Shop the Mud Collection exclusively at Maison Et Objet this September.
