Just like the malformed fruit that is left to rot on the tree because it does not conform to the diktats of all-powerful supermarkets, it is the discarded offcuts of wood on the industrial floor that have inspired parts of our collection. The Offcut Bench was initiated as a means of featuring the sad and misunderstood discarded raw wood components. Wood also lends itself well to the provision of kit form, flat pack products, which give the owner that great satisfaction of constructing their own stool or table by hammering the joins together with wooden dowels to make a solid long lasting piece.

“The ‘waney edge’, which is the randomly wavy edge of a plank that is normally covered in bark, is discarded as nonconformist and difficult to work with. Of course, for me it is the most interesting bit – so full of character and natural potential.” Tom Dixon
What to expect from our wood products
Across our range of wood products, we use a mixture of soaped or brushed oak and lacquered birch, sourced from Europe and chosen for their sustainability and durability. In all our solid wood products we carefully select wood without knots, but it should be remembered that wood is a natural, living material and will move and warp and over time, so you may need to use a filler to remedy small cracks and shakes in the grain.
