Peju Obasa reimagines the S Chair

To Celebrate 30 years of the S Chair and for London Craft Week 2020

Designed 30 years ago, the S Chair continues to shapeshift and find new adaptations and interpretations.

For London Craft Week 2020 we invited Peju Obasa, a London knitwear designer, to re-imagine the S Chair.

Specialising in crochet and up-cycled materials Peju chose Econyl, regenerated nylon made from fishing nets, amongst other former nylon products.

Reusing an early S Chair, Peju removed the existing material first to uncover the metal frame. She then began to crochet the silver yarn around the frame before completing the seat and back.

The S Chair will remain in our London hub as part of our S Chair museum at the Coal Office in Coal Drops Yard, Kings Cross, London.
