Available as a three and two seater sofa, dining chair, counter and bar stool, chaise longue and lounge chair, the extreme simplicity of the components is a testament to form following function, whilst maintaining a humorous silhouette and a reductionist aesthetic. IT’S FAT, IT’S ROUND, IT’S CUDDLY
Fat is made from moulded foam with a metal leg launching in high gloss black lacquer and made to order upholstery. Manufactured in Europe, hand finished and upholstered by experienced craftsmen.
'I've been wanting to reclaim the word fat and make it positive again, and it's particularly appropriate for upholstery because you want supreme comfort. The fatness of these curved backrests and the thickness of the upholstery make these a really comfortable series of furniture - we first tested them in our restaurant at the Coal Office and then at the Manzoni in Milan before we launched the collection in 2019. They are manufactured in Europe at a secret location by skilled upholsterers and metal workers. I wanted really to try and make a chair which had the most elementary components I could think of and to try and reduce the number of elements and the complexity of elements down to the absolute minimum. With Fat, they really have the simplest of legs, but even the legs are fatter tubes than most and that gives you a very solid base.' - Tom Dixon
