We like to think of the our design studio as more of a laboratory – a place where we can investigate new shapes,  carry out research into luminosity and experiment with our favourite materials.

It’s a platform for radical thinking and design enquiry, a mad playground where craft and industry ,art and function can crossover

Strong , clear and heat resistant , the new collection of BUMP vases, teapots, glasses and jugs have their origins in the functionalist rigour of scientific glassware. The fusing of various basic elements in tough and hygienic borosilicate glass give  rise to an unexpected decorative aspect thanks to the simple repeated forms, the basic volumes and the shapes within shapes common in the science laboratory.

Associated with the dark subject of the occult, alchemy is the mysterious transmutation of matter transfixed with transformative metallurgy and the creation of mystical elixirs. A philosophical and spiritual mode of thinking rooted in antiquity, it’s part science, part magic – the earliest form of chemistry.

For years the conversion of raw materials into precious metals has been a subject of fascination, a matter of obsession.

We’ve harnessed the transformative power of design, to take honest matter – wood, iron, stone, and brass – and transform it into extraordinary objects, in a word – gold. Alchemy is at the heart of our craft, it’s the inspiration for AW17.
