MELT

" A meteorite, molten glass, psychedelic… Everyone has their own description of MELT… It can look natural, like a soap bubble.  Or it can look very high-tech and futuristic."– Tom Dixon

MELT was born from Tom's idea of creating an imperfect, organic and naturalistic lighting object.

"A series of distorted spherical lights, half-metallised to create an extraordinary optic effect and cast an ethereal luminosity on their surroundings.’"

MATERIALITY

MELT lights are created through a process of blow moulding and vacuum metallisation to achieve unusual lumonsity.

‘"What’s special about Melt is that we’ve used half metallisation which allows you to see inside the reflective surface. The light source reflects and bounces around the interior of the lamp, in a way which creates these quite extraordinary patterns…"

As with the entire MELT family, the half-metallisation creates a mysterious half-mirrored effect that is hyper reflective when turned off but transforms into a translucent molten orb when switched on.

"The mesmerizing hot-blown glass effect of MELT evokes images of fire, molten embers and lava. Emitting an alluring yet mildly hallucinogenic light, MELT resembles a dancing fire or flickering flame, which stimulates a curious and tantalizing attraction."

PERFORMANCE

Recognising the need and demand for a more energy-efficient future, we have now transitioned our MELT family to include improved LED fittings. The upgrade ensures that we deliver on performance and stay at the forefront of constantly evolving technology.

Our LEDs offer three key benefits - longer LIFE expectancy, ENERGY efficiency and improved PERFORMANCE.
