The Coal Office
April 2018
4-10 Bagley Walk Arches, Coal Drops Yard, Kings Cross, London, N1C 4DH
Introducing The Coal Office – our new home for Tom Dixon’s latest experiments, innovations and collaborations. Located near Granary Square, Kings Cross, London, our new hub will contribute to an ever-expanding network of creatives and technologists from the likes of Central St. Martins and LVMH to Google and Spiritland.
The Studio
Against the industrial backdrop of Coal Drops Yard, The Coal Office will lead the way as a multi-disciplinary platform for innovation in design. Functioning as a live Studio, combining shop, workshop and office all under one roof, with the culinary delights of a brand-new restaurant and rood terrace. Tom Dixon says:
'For us it was imperative not just to find a new office or shop. It was vital to find a new home. London isn't just another city. It is where it all started. We will use these 17,500 square feet in this incredible location as a platform to broadcast our latest ideas in interior design, product innovation and experiments in food, functionality and future living.'
The Shop
You will find distinct collections of our extraordinary objects within each arch. Explore the Lighting Shop, Haberdashery, Service Counter, Furniture Shop, Perfumery and Gift Shop. VISIT US.
Lighting Shop – Showcasing our latest adventures in optics and reflectivity. We celebrate luminosity with a series of pendants, wall, surface, and floor lights which are another leap forward in our deep investigation of futuristic optics.
Perfumery – Explore our range of candles, diffusers, liquid soaps, lotions, candle and tea light holders in the Perfumery arch. We've created a steamy space full of fragrance and flavour with a series of intangibles that can be just as important in interior-design as colour, luminosity and shape.
Furniture Shop – A collection of old and new including the Veterans: S Chair, Pylon Chair and Bird Chaise. |
Haberdashery – After years of shiny metallics we’ve finally gone a little bit soft. Housed inside our Haberdashery are our new Super Textures. |
The Factory – Inspired by our fascination for manufacturing and craftsmanship, The Factory is an open workshop where we make things, test ideas, create prototypes and engage directly with our customers. READ MORE & BOOK YOUR PLACE.
The Trade Counter
For enhanced, in-depth Dixonisms.
The Coal Office is the centre of our fast expanding universe – our design and development studio, our experiments in interior design and a hub for inspiration, for eating, browsing and working. We wanted to initiate a dedicated space for professionals, from architects and interior designers, to retailers and dealers – and that space is our Trade Counter. BOOK AN APPOINTMENT.
Laid out as a three-dimensional mood board, the Trade Counter serves as a space to host longer conversations about architecture and commerce, to browse through a multitude of design options in a series of atmospheric industrial Victorian rooms packed full of our latest innovations in furniture and lighting.
We share the space with a rapidly evolving series of friends in architectural surfaces – Made a Mano, The Rug Company, Dinesen and Sphere 8 – whose materials are widely specified in our retail and design areas. |
Coal Office restaurant
Our new restaurant, Coal Office, is a place where you can experience fresh, creative food in a variety of beautifully designed and atmospheric spaces, where the provenance is explained, the tableware is available to buy, and the recipes are shared.
