We got a taster of Mr Smith's letterpress workshop yesterday as he, Tom and Stevie were interviewed for our Crane TV Christmas at The Dock film.
Tom talked through the new internationally scoured shop concessions, Stevie made bread in Dock Kitchen’s outdoor Tandoor oven and Mr Smith introduced his letterpressing process giving us a preview of the cards and prints he'll be making for Christmas at The Dock.
Mr Smith - and his half-tonne letterpress workshop - are at The Dock from Thursday - Sunday printing bespoke cards, large prints and teaching visitors how to create type the Mr Smith way. He hopes visitors will have a go at letterpressing themselves to create a unique printed Christmas gift. "I really like the idea of people coming to make something for someone else, instead of just themselves."
Clever cards included a Christmas tree print formed from the space inside of the letter A.
