Senior Graphic Design Manager

The Company

Established in 2002, Tom Dixon is a British design and manufacturing company of lighting and furniture. With a commitment to innovation and a mission to revive the British furniture industry, the Tom Dixon brand is inspired by our nation’s unique heritage. In 2004 Proventus, the Swedish-based private investment company, teamed up with Tom Dixon to establish Design Research, a design and product development holding company. Tom Dixon launches new collections annually at the Milan international furniture fair and an accessories collection at Maison Et Objet in Paris. The product is currently sold across 63 countries, and we have offices and warehouses in London, New York and Hong Kong.

Launched in 2007, Design Research Studio is the interior design arm of the Design Research Group. High profile projects include Shoreditch House and Paramount private members’ clubs as well as Joseph’s flagship store on Old Bond Street, London. Recently completed projects include Barbecoa, Jamie Oliver and Adam Perry Lang’s new restaurant in the One New Change development beside St Paul’s, London and Tazmania Ballroom, a private members club in the Central district of Hong Kong.

Tom Dixon rose to prominence in the mid 1980’s as 'the talented untrained designer with a line in welded salvage furniture'. Having worked for Italian manufacturer Cappellini where he designed the iconic S chair; Tom then went on to create his own company, 'Eurolounge', under which he made and sold the much celebrated Jack light. Dixon was appointed head of design by Habitat in 1998 and later became Creative Director until his departure in January 2008. Dixon was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 2001. He is the Creative Director of Tom Dixon.

The Tom Dixon brand is in a period of very fast growth, expecting to more than double in size year upon year for the next few years. 


Senior Graphic Design Manager

The senior graphic designer role at Tom Dixon is an exciting opportunity to lead the creative visualisation and identity of the brand globally, working closely with Tom Dixon to realise his vision.

Interpreting our brand identity and working with an external agency to create an arresting look & feel. You will be responsible for then producing graphics for various channels including (but not exclusive to) co-branding and partnerships, retail POS and in-store display, product branding & packaging, online and offline marketing materials.

Responsibilities include:

  • Understand the brand’s attributes and core values and interpret them into a global identity
  • Develop & oversee a recognisable look & feel and tone of voice
  • Develop & oversee the creation of a core style guide which can be used in various channels
  • Create a photographic style that fits with the brand’s aesthetic, for online and offline
  • Work with Product Design department on graphic related products (clock faces , rulers , stencil , t-shirt and ephemera) 
  • Develop and oversee the design of packaging materials
  • Create promotional digital materials
  • Create offline marketing & sales tools
  • Create in-store graphic signage and POS
  • Creation of product information for online and in-box, including instruction manuals
  • Creation of technical specifications & product silhouettes (for up to 200 SKUS per year)
  • Ensure all materials adhere to language translation requirements
  • Manage print budgets and ensure all designs are created on time and within budget
  • Brief and Manage exterior agencies and personnel to a budget (artworkers , photographers , box construction etc.) 
  • Work on graphic identities for interior design projects, licensing and co-branding activities. 

Experience & characteristics:

Applicants should have 6+ years experience, be self-motivated and passionate about design with the ability to manage their own workload effectively. Must have experience of working alongside external agencies. This role will report into the Senior Product Design Manager and Creative Director, Tom Dixon.
