An emporium of creative talent instigated by Tom Dixon and sponsored by Derwent London, The Dock is set to be the brightest addition to London Design Festival 2009. The week long event takes place at the newly completed Portobello Dock development in Ladbroke Grove and plays host to a series of stand alone exhibitions, pop up shops, indoor and outdoor installations presented in over 40,000 square feet of space.

Across three distinct spaces; The Wharf Building, The Canal Building and The White Building, the event spans food, fashion, art, design and new media. Set over five floors with 27 exhibitors, the Canal Building showcases a strong international presence including brands such as Zanotta, Bocci , Retail Facility/ IDEA International and Vorboten: 7 Studios from Berlin, a collective of young German designers. Artifort UK pays homage to Pierre Paulin, one of the most important designers of the mid 20th Century and Donna Wilson showcases a colourful display of cosy knitted accessories, from creatures to cushions. Consumers can buy pieces from Hidden Art who have constructed a pop-up shop selling small craft and design pieces such as the Nest Floor shoe rack designed by j-me and Tina Tsang ceramics. Thorsten Van Elten showcases his new pieces as well as selling an array of products including his celebrated pigeon lights. Consumers are able to buy through Tye + Co a variety of pieces from established brands such as Established & Sons and Decode London.

Very Good and Proper, founded by Ed Carpenter and Andre Klauser debuts its new tableware collection designed specifically for Canteen restaurants. Veuve Clicquot has created an installation of their temporary Gazebo designed by Tom Dixon for the Gold Cup 2009 and La Comete light launched in Milan. The space plays host to talks including a private evening for The London Festival of Architecture annual conference with over three hundred of its members attending.

With over 32 exhibitors, The White Building displays an eclectic mix of young emerging talent alongside brands such as Timorous Beasties and A Little Something From Us. Studio Toogood has worked with Formica to create 'The Hatch' a pop up café serving design art food throughout the week. Studio Toogood has also teamed with stretch ceiling specialists Barrisol to construct an extraordinary hallway installation called 'Geology Rocks'. Its Nice That will show a variety of graphics and typography alongside designers Simon Hasan, Philippe Malouin, TOBYhouse, Alexander Kneller and Ben McCarthy.

The Wharf Building signals the launch of the first Tom Dixon Shop presenting the new Shop concept as seen in Milan 2009. In over 1800 sqft the new showroom will permanently display the full Tom Dixon collection alongside Tom Dixon by George Smith upholstery pieces. The space launches for London Design Festival new pieces from the 2009 Utility collection: the Offcut Stool and Slab Bar Stool.

Outdoor installations include Tokyo Bike will launch their colourful range of urban-specific bikes and equipment for the first time in the UK. The Rug Company showcases their latest collection designed by Tom Dixon and Innermost displays the Stick Light by Michael Young in the walk way entrance to The Dock.

The renowned Art Car Boot Fair presents the Art Car Bootique with over twenty artists offering portraits of visitors on site in a variety of mediums from charcoal to oil and photography. The boutique sale, previously held in Brick Lane and across America will host a variety of outdoor stalls selling original prints alongside specially commissioned tax discs by Pretty Taxes. The 'Vehicle of Doubt' installation by Oliver Guy Watkin, a car which has toured Britain this summer inscribed with the doubts of over four thousand people, makes its last public appearance before being sold to a private owner. The art car boutique is to be held on Saturday 26 September 12 - 6pm featuring work from Gavin Turk and Sir Peter Blake. Celebrated fashion and design emporium Liberty brings 'Prints Charming' to West London. Visitors will be able to buy from the exhibition celebrating all things wacky and wonderful about the iconic Liberty print on Friday 25th September 10am - 6pm only.

Visitors to the waterside location are able to relax on the terrace over looking the Grand Union Canal and enjoy freshly prepared food from The Dock Kitchen. Stevie Parle, recently of the River Café is creating a series of light seasonal menus available throughout the day including breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea as part of his underground project 'The Moveable Restaurant.' Veuve Clicquot will serve champagne to compliment the menus.

Tom Dixon comments, "West London deserves a spot for design and creativity lovers , and we have finally after months of searching for the perfect location , found the ultimate base , which combines the beauty and solidity of the Victorian industrial infrastructure with lots of open space and contemporary architecture - we now want to share it with everybody else .."
